David Baker

With over 40 years of entertainment industry experience, David has worked on both sides of the camera. From judging “Forged in Fire” for 10 seasons and acting in TV and film, he knows how to find his light. And prior to blade smithing off camera, he built sets, fabricated large scale props, and even piloted a 14-foot sculpture of Missy Eliot’s head for the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. If nothing else, he’s had an interesting career path.

Much of Baker’s work has been seen on feature films and television series such as Tropic Thunder, Dragon Ball Evolution, Deadliest Warrior, More Extreme Marksman,101 Weapons that Changed the World, The Bleeding, The Librarians, and many more.

His specialty in fabricating historical weapons has given David the opportunity to build hundreds of exotic weapons and test their agility and strength on camera. From a fully functional Onager-style catapult to a 7-foot tall Grute Pier sword, the challenges of recreating these iconic weapons have been the inspiration for his ongoing study of how they were used in history. It’s this culmination of knowledge, legend, and artistry that bring these blades to life.
